Moxen (generic name: meloxicam; brand names include: Melonex / Muvera / Movalis / Melox / Recoxa / Moxen / Mobec / Moxenox / Tenaron / Melocam) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class.
Moxen is COX-2 selective, which means it causes less stomach problems than traditional NSAIDs.
Moxen is used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and oesteoarthritis, both of which are painful joint diseases. Moxen relieves symptoms such as pain and inflammation.
Moxen works by preventing the production of irritant chemicals that cause pain and inflammation in the body.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Moxen exactly as directed.
The usual dose of Moxen is 7.5 mg, taken as a single dose each day.
For patients with kidney problems undergoing dialysis, the maximum recommended daily dose is 7.5 mg.
Swallow the tablets with fluid. It is best to take Moxen immediately after food. Try to take Moxen at the same time each day, either morning or evening.
You may need to take Moxen for a long time. Keep in touch with your doctor (at least every three months) during this time. Keep taking Moxen every day until your doctor tells you to stop.
If you take cholestyramine, ask your doctor or pharmacist how to take it with Moxen.
If you forget to take Moxen and it is almost time for your next dose (e.g. within 2-3 hours), skip the dose you missed. Otherwise, take it as soon as you remember, then go back to taking it as you would normally. Do not try to make up for missed doses by taking more than one dose at a time.
Keep Moxen in a cool dry place. Moxen should not be stored in direct sunlight or heat.
Before taking Moxen, tell your doctor if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you have a stomach ulcer; or severe liver, kidney, or heart problems;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Active ingredient: meloxicam.

For three years, this medication has been nothing short of a miracle drug for me in managing my knee problems and disc herniations in the cervical, lumbar, and sacral spine. It provided me with immense relief, and I could carry on with my daily activities without any discomfort. However, recently, I have developed a painful rash on my chest, face, and forehead, and after consulting with my physician, I have been advised to stop taking the medication.
While it is disheartening to have to discontinue the medication, the development of a painful rash was concerning, and I need to prioritize my health and well-being. I am hopeful that my physician will prescribe an alternative medication that will offer similar relief without causing any side effects. It is crucial to keep in mind that even though a medication may have worked well for a prolonged period, it is essential to be vigilant and seek medical advice if there are any changes in your health or the development of adverse reactions.
