Gentamicin ophthalmic solution (brand names include: Optimycin / Ophtagram) is a topical aminoglycoside antibiotic.
Gentamicin ophthalmic solution 0.3% is used for the treatment of certain bacterial infections of the eye.
Indications include:
conjunctivitis
keratitis
keratoconjunctivitis
corneal ulcers
blepharitis
blepharoconjunctivitis
acute meibomianitis
dacryocystitis
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Use Gentamicin Eye Drops exactly as directed.
The usual dosage is one or two drops applied to the affected eye every 4 hours. The dosage may be increased to as much as two drops once every hour in severe infections.
Tell your doctor before taking Gentamicin Eye Drops, if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you have any serious medical conditions;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
