Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Use Adaferin exactly as directed.
Adaferin is best applied after washing and drying your skin.
Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected areas once daily at bedtime. Avoid the eyes, lips and nose. Do not allow this preparation to come into contact with the mucous membranes (e.g. mouth, vagina, inside of nose etc.). Try not to touch the treated areas overnight.
Do not use any harsh soaps or exfoliants while you are being treated with Adaferin. Adaferin should not be used on broken, sunburnt or infected skin.
You may notice a slight change of colour of the skin you are applying this preparation to. This is only temporary and should return to normal soon after finishing treatment with Adaferin.
Continue using Adaferin until no new acne spots appear. You may need to use it for several months. You should notice some clinical improvement after 4-8 weeks and more improvement after further use.
There may be a worsening of acne during the first few weeks of therapy because Adaferin promotes the growth of pimples that have begun to form but are not yet visible. Therefore, treatment should not be stopped if acne appears to be worsening.
Use a sunscreen cream and wear protective clothing if exposure to strong or prolonged sunlight cannot be avoided. Weather extremes such as wind or cold may also be irritating.
Avoid the use of oil-based makeups and creams. Cosmetic products with an abrasive, drying or peeling action may cause an extra irritant effect.
Adaferin topical gel should be used with caution by nursing mothers and only in areas away from the chest.
Store Adaferin in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
Before using Adaferin, tell your doctor if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment; or you are breast-feeding.
Active ingredient: adapalene.
