anesthesia of mucous membranes, e.g. various anal conditions such as hemorrhoids and fissures;
the alleviation of pain during examination and instrumentation, e.g. proctoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, cystoscopy, endotracheal intubation.


Topical Lidocaine (Lidocaine) Recommendations

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Use Topical Lidocaine exactly as directed.

The dose of this medicine may be different for different patients. Use the smallest amount of Topical Lidocaine to control your symptoms. The total maximum dose for a 24 hour period should not exceed 20 grams.
