Fastic (Starlix) General Information

Fastic Fastic is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes (also known as non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) or adult-onset diabetes).

Fastic is taken right before a meal to help reduce mealtime glucose spikes. Fastic helps your body release insulin early, right at the start of a meal, when your body really needs it.

Fastic can be taken either alone or in addition to other type 2 diabetes medications: metformin (also known as Glucophage) or a class of drugs called thiazolidinediones, also called glitazones or TZDs.

Fastic (Starlix) Recommendations

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Fastic exactly as direcgted.

Fastic is designed to provide glucose control at mealtime, so you need to take Fastic before each main meal. Fastic is most effective when taken immediately before eating (1 to 30 minutes before your first bite). If you take Fastic after you've started eating, it won't be as effective. Also, it is best to take Fastic with a glass of water.

The usual recommended starting and maintenance dose of Fastic, alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines, is 120 mg three times daily before meals.

If you skip a meal, do not take your dose of Fastic. This will reduce the risk of low blood sugar.
